SAP Packet Format
SAP field contents Each host that provides a service contains a SAP agent. Each agent acquires information reflected in the fields of this packet and keeps the information in a table.
OPERATION: This field defines packet operation.
SERVICE TYPE: This field identifies the service type that the server provides.
SERVICE NAME: This identifies the server name based upon network number.
NETWORK ADDRESS: This is the network address the server is located upon.
NODEADDRESS: This is the address of where the server is located.
SOCKET NUMBER: This number is the process identifier to which packets must be sent.
NUMBEROF HOPS TO THE SERVER: This indicates the number of hops to the host where the server is located.
The remaining part of the packet may have additional information about other servers on the network.
